Mission & History

Our mission - To recognize the dignity and beauty of each person while promoting the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of the children and families living in the Mooncrest neighborhood.

Mooncrest Neighborhood Programs offers a variety of services for children, adults and families.  When Mooncrest community members reached out for assistance in revitalizing their community, the Felician Sisters living in Coraopolis responded.  After visiting the community, retired educator Sr. Rene Procopio was one of the Felician Sisters who responded to the call.  In 2002, Mooncrest Children's Program began as an after-school tutoring program for just 6 children in borrowed space.  Since then, we have transformed in response to the needs of a growing and changing Mooncrest community.  Although Sr. Rene has passed on, Felician Sisters still live and work in Mooncrest and Mooncrest Neighborhood Programs now offers a full spectrum of services. Sr. Rene's dedication to the Mooncrest community has been recognized by Moon Township with the renaming of the community center as the Sr. Rene Procopio Activity Center.   With the help of our donors and volunteers, MNP is proud to continue supporting the Mooncrest community and will carry on in the Felician spirit: to serve where needed.
